One

It doesn't matter what a thousand people think. What matters is really just the One - yourself. What you know and feel.

Still, it would be nice to have someone who understands. But "O, that way madness lies; let me shun that;/ No more of that."

  • one could look at life as a lifelong search for understanding.

or sex. either way. it's all a matter of perspective.

there's nothing wrong with wanting a little bit of "yeah baby, that's it. that's it exactly..."

  • Other people's opinions don't really matter much -- that I agree. But when a lot of people think of you as a certain something that you think you're not, perhaps it's time to stop mentally pushing those comments away and find out why such an image of yourself exists.

I think I'm personally afraid that I'm merely deluding myself into thinking that I'm someone I'm actually not

  • If you want so much to find someone who understands you, you may become so eager to recognise a kindred spirit, who you think understands you, or whom you understand. And when suddenly one day you discover that apparent understanding is just an illusion (and after all, all humans are unique and will therefore never achieve 100% harmony), then it's as if the bottom has fallen out of your world.

Well, of course it's actually about me. So you should replace all the "you"s in the above paragraph to "I"s.

That search for understanding is futile. I sometimes forget is all. I have to keep reminding myself that.

  • Futile, yet defining.
